“Okay, here’s the script I made,” said Don, handing Arnold and Carl a small stack of papers.
“Nicely done,” said Carl. “Let’s rehearse this.”
The three of them were standing in the theatre classroom. Ms. Stevens had instructed everyone to go over their skits and rehearse them in preparation for presentations.
“Okay,” agreed Don.
Arnold took a look at the script. There was a description of each of their characters written at the top. Carl- teacher. Arnold- student. Don- student.
“Let’s begin,” said Don. “You’re up first, Arnold. In the first scene you’re talking to Carl about your grades.”
Arnold turned to face Carl began reading off the script. “Hi, Mr. Education. I got my essay back and I got a 60. I don’t think I deserve this grade.”
“I’m sorry, but grades are not up for negotiation. That’s the school’s policy,” said Carl.
“I don’t care if that’s the school’s policy. I want a higher grade!” said Arnold.
Don walked up to the two and laid his hand on Arnold’s shoulder. Arnold trembled as Don exerted an excruciating amount of pressure, almost causing Arnold to bend down under his hand. “Did you just say that you don’t care about school policy?”
Arnold winced as he tried to continue reading the script. “Yea, you heard me.”
Don’s grip tightened, crushing Arnold’s shoulder with the power only a person the size of Don could possess.
“What the hell? Dude, stop. That actually hurts,” said Arnold, trying to shrug Don’s hand off, but to no avail.
“I knew you didn’t respect the educational system, Arnold. My suspicions were spot-on!” said Don, ignoring Arnold’s cries. “Teacher! This student must be punished!”
“Yes,” said Carl. “I say we make him give us a picture of his cousin.”
“Wait, what? That’s not part of-” Arnold began.
“Yes!” Don cried. “Let us do that! Arnold, give us a picture of your cousin right now!”
“What? No. Dude, you guys are going off the script-”
“You dare defy the educational system not once, but twice?! I see that you need some education pummeled into you,” said Don, increasing the pressure of his grip.
“Dude, seriously, stop,” Arnold cried out as the downward force of Don’s hand caused him to fall to his knees. “Dude, this isn’t even part of the script-”
“What shall his punishment be, teacher?” said Don, turning to Carl.
“Well, “ said Carl, staring Arnold in the eye. “I say we give him one more chance. If he complies and gives us a picture of his cousin, I’ll forgive him.”
“How merciful! You are indeed a kind human being!” said Don.
“However,” said Carl, his stare unwavering, “Should he still refuse, I say we break his shoulder. You can do that, right Don?”
This isn’t an act anymore!
“That would be an easy task,” said Don, his grip tightening even further.
Arnold tried to keep his composure as pain throbbed throughout his shoulder. These guys are fucking serious!
He looked around for Ms. Stevens, and upon seeing her, immediately yelled out, “Help! Don’s crushing my shoulder!”
Ms. Stevens, who was talking with another group, looked over at Arnold, and her face grew into one of concern as she saw Arnold, on his knees, being gripped mercilessly by Don.
Carl quickly replied, “This is merely part of our script, Ms. Stevens! Don’t worry, Arnold’s just acting.”
Ms. Stevens laughed, and turned back to the other group.
As the pain, already at an astronomically high level, continued to increase, Arnold realized in a panic that his shoulder was really going to be destroyed if Don continued. Gritting his teeth, Arnold hung his head.
“Fine. I give up,” said Arnold. “You win, Carl. I’ll give you a picture of my cousin.”
